Biography

Clare Purser was born in New Zealand in 1971 and her early years were spent in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Australia. In 1996 Clare received an Honours Degree from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Since that time she has been exhibiting regularly in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. Clare pursued a fulltime art practice in 2011 and now lives on Moreton Bay where she works from her home studio.

Clare was the winner of the 2016 Milburn Art Prize, The Tweed Valley Art Prize for Painting, Tweed Valley Regional Gallery in 1996 and The Jack McClure Memorial Award, North Shore Art Awards, Auckland, New Zealand in 2004.
Most recently she has been a finalist in the 2016 Moreton Bay Region Art Award, the 2015 Milburn Art Prize, the Sunshine Coast Art Prize 2015 and the 2014 Redland Art Award.
On going themes of Clare's artistic practice have been to explore ideas of, heritage, identity and landscape in relation to her environment.
